Okay! So today I'm not posting a piece of art that's mine but someone else's. My good friend John Gordon is producing a film called "Coyote Requiem". He needs a little help finishing it. So he started a "campaign to raise the last bit of money needed to finish this film and get it to festivals where they hope it will get picked up". He's not asking for much... JUST TWO BUCKS! WHAT? Craze! Starbucks doesn't have a latte that reasonably priced! That's not even a gallon of gas! Yes, just drop two bucks and get a film made!

I didn't get to do sketch crawl this weekend. Boo to me. Been busy gearing up for Designer Con. But I did take some time to watch Batman: Year One. Great Story but.... I never really read the comic so I guess I was expect a lot more action. But that's just me. I still love Bats! With that I got all hyped up with DC and did a little marathoning... Young Justice, JLU, Brave and the Bold, etc. So I decide that I wanted to sketch out my own version of "World's Finest". At least one that hasn't been done by DC or that I've seen on the interwebs. So I teamed up the most ruthless incranations of Bats and Supes! That's right... Azrael and The Eradictor!

I recently watched the new Direct to Video animated Green Lantern: Emerald Knights and was inspired to draw my own GL Corps recruits. I don't have names for them yet but I will once I render them up. I was inspired by my friend Dou Hong, while I was out in Rhode Island visiting her, to draw a robot. But not just any robot... A robot that "more than meets one eye"! So I decided to draw her as a Transformer animated style. Dou likes Transformers, interned for Hasbro, can draw like a beast, loves pugs and moos on occasion.
So Dou, my friend, this ones for yoos! For everyone else... Meet DOU-CEPTA-HONG!
I also wrote a little bio about my new creation but it's written in a strange form of Cybertronian Text... see if you can decipher it. I also plan to draw up her alt mode, so stay tooned for that!

So I finally decided to do some DC fan art and put to use some of my newly learned scribbling skills from my gesture drawing class (Big Thanks to my instructor Mark McDonnell ). What better way to show this but to sketch up my favorite Bat Babes... Barbara and Cassandra!
This is just a rough and I plan to add Gotham in the BG... maybe with a moon... and some super sexy lighting, just like Michael Bay or J.J. Abrams... J/K... I don't have any nice lens flare plugins for my apps.
It might take me a little while to render but I wanted to post the sketch up cuz I kinda liked how they turned out. And when that's done I hope to make a Sexy Supes team up!

Okay, okay. So things have been really busy and my blog is progressing slowly. Or maybe I'm just making up excuses. So this week I'm on vacation and hangin' out in the east coast. Spendin' QT with my friend Dou Hong and finishing some neglected personal art pieces.

So this is the 5X7 that will be included in the 10 Doh! figure by Squid Kids Ink. I'm still finishing up the main label. The concept is if Mac from "Punch Out" was a girl. Yeah, sick-oh, I tend to gender twist most of my favorite guy characters. I also wanted to make it look like a vintage fight poster... Um... well at least that's what I wanted it to look like.

I rendered most of the art in illustrator and add some texture on photoshop. I wish it was Tuesday when I posted this so that way I could say, "Happy Boobs-day" :) .... sorry.

Okay! So I should have had 2 new bunnies for you guys to look at but instead I just did one. I'll try and finish a 2 bunny sketch this week. But in the mean time I hope you guys enjoy this new piece. The Drawing Club is now one of my most favorite places to be. Only because I get to be surrounded by talented artist (some who are my friends), that inspire me and the themes are crazee cool to draw. So like I said last post... Week 2's theme was "True Grit"! Again I was slow but at least I got to clean up 4 of my dirty sketches while I was there instead of taking it home. The originals were on plain white paper but I wanted to doll them up a bit by photoshoping them on a piece of textured paper. And Yes! I need to post another bunny! or Two or Two-zees!

I was invited by my talented friend ,Kendra, to join her at The Drawing Club last Thursday. I thought it be a great way to brush up on my sketching skills and use my new ipad! Not to mention that the theme was "Maleficent" from "Disney's Sleeping Beauty" that night. Sweet!
So I went.
I got my ass kicked!
The following sketches are ones I did in 5 minutes... then 15 minutes... then I said screw it and cleaned up one of the 5 min. sketches at home. I plan to render it at a future time... Mcfly...wuh?! Hey kids! Thought I'd post up some resent custom figures I did... recently. The first one was a bref-dai gift I made for my friends during the Hallah-oween season. If you can't tell what it is... It's suppose to be Frankenberry. It's made from a foam pumpkin I got from Michaels and a Munny body. The Skeletor is for Designer Con 2010. Wow! The title is way to long. Anyhoo, I know I'm slow at updating my blog but I have a little bit of time while I sit here at A.P.E in San Fran-disco. I promise you I haven't been lazy with my art. Here are a few pieces that I did in the recent months. The "Mickey" painting was actually started while I was in Disney Land. I got an annual pass. So now I don't have to rush in the park. I actually have time to paint! BANANAS! The "Trixy and Treats" piece was done for the "Monstober Fest" held at the Rothick Art Haus Gallery in Anaheim. And finally the "Spray Can Ma-doo-sa" is something I'm just starting on. More artwork is on the way so stay tuned or stay tooned or stay TWO-ZEES!

I was recently reading though the Toys R Evil blog, catching up on the happenings in the toy and pop culture art world. When I came upon an article or more like a call for help from Mattyboombatty (from Smash Tokyo Toys) to help out an 11 year old boy get a new wheel chair by asking if any artist would be willing to help develop an art print that they could sell to raise money. So I wanted to help and this is a sketch of what I am submitting for my part in a collaboration piece with other artists. It's based on Smash Tokyo Toys' Seismic Ace and Bear Tank. Capcom comes to town

So I took some time off of work and headed east. While I was there I had time to just chill and work on some personal projects. One project was to try and get into Capcom's Super Street Fighter IV Fight Club. They were in need of some art. Unfortunately I was a little late. Boo to me. I've been dreaming of a chance to be a Capcom artist. Guess I got to work harder and faster. Hopefully this isn't my last chance. Anyhoo, here is the piece I finished. I'm excited and at the same time sick to my stomach. Trying to draw panels turned out to be more time consuming then I thought. I think that I put more detail in it then I should. The Samurai Project

Earlier this year I showed a sneak peak of some of the projects I'll be working on this year. The Samurai Project is a comic book anthology that I'll be participating in along with other great indie comic artist. I'm collaborating with Ed Rodriguez on the look of the art. So the theme was Children's Poems and Fairy tails. I chose to do "Little Miss Muffet"... but a more adult version. It's acrylic on an unprimed wooden artboart. What I liked about week 4's theme was the research on children's poems. Their origins are very dark. When you get a chance you should look up the origins of your favorite Mother Goose poem. I'll give you one... "Ring around the Rosies" is about the Black Plague... oh... you knew that one... well, good for you!

So I guess I haven't really written anything about me and why I started this blog. Well, I'm vector artist by trade. I love working with Adobe illustrator but I felt this was the year that I get back to doing more hand made art work. I also believe that it's time to get some of my personal projects going that have been waiting in the wings. My day job has been taking a lot of my personal time and I'm trying to have a better work/life balance. This blog is going to keep me on course with what I want to become as an artist. You guys still awake? Anyhoo, here's a new post but old piece. It's the only surviving art piece I did back in 2004 for group show called "Still on the Loose". I printed out the images and spray mounted them to some foamcore, then hot glue gunned them together. It took 2 week to put 4 of them together. If I find old picts of the other pieces I'll post them.

So I got into the art show. YAY! And it was a zombie-licious time had by all. I want to thank all my friends who made it out and to all my friends that tried to make it out to support. I love you all! Of course like the dummy that I am I didn't take enough pictures of the show. I'll ask my friends, who did take pictures, if I can post the ones they took. So stay tuned for that. But I thought I'd share what I gave out as gifts to some of my close friends. And if my friends are reading this you owe me 20 buck... J/K :) So it seem that most of the artist out there in the urban pop culture world are using a lot more wood canvases these days. I wanted to try it out. I like it! The first one is the cup cake series. It's not done yet, I've got two more to go. Basically I asked the girls what their favorite animal was and put them with a cup cake. Okay, not that original but I thought it'd be cute.

I part of a group called Squid Kids Ink... I know... Clever with the "Ink" instead of "INC." Anyhoo, here is custom I did for the Squib Figure Squid Kids make. I guess it's finally time that I started spouting out words and posting art for the world not to care about. But at least I'll have somewhere to share some personal art. Sure I have a deviant art page, a facebook page, a myspace page and a website (that I haven't done anything with...yet) but now no one can tell me that I don't have a blog! TAKE THAT "NO ONE"!
